Hamburger with egg | Harissa

Hamburger with egg | Harissa

Ingredients

8 oz hamburger patty

One tablespoon of harissa spread on the inside of the top and bottom slice of the bun.

Red onions thinly sliced

Tomato thinly sliced

One egg fried sunny side up with an oozy yolk ideally.

Hamburger bun.  I used a brioche bun.

One teaspoon of olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Season the hamburger generously with salt and pepper, then fry in a cast iron skillet with a little bit of olive oil.  Cook the hamburger for about four to five minutes.  While the hamburger is cooking, slice the onion, the tomato and cut a little bit of lettuce to serve on the bun.  Spread the harissa on the inside of the two slices of the bun.  Remove the hamburger from the skillet and let rest and then start frying the egg in a skillet using a teaspoon of olive oil.  The egg is done when the edges of the egg start to get crusty.  Build your burger by putting the lettuce on the bottom half of the burger, then the burger, the onions, the tomato slices and then the egg.

Absolutely magnificent and satisfying burger.  You can always add cheese but in my opinion, it is not necessary because of the egg.

B’Saha and Bon Appetit !
